It is my belief that successful design is a collaborative balancing act that respects the wants and needs of the user while still striving for creative innovation.
As part of a replatforming project the redesign of the Cars .com vehicle research pages was a very large project that spanned several years. The challenge was creating a mobile-first responsive design that an extremely large amount of dynamic content (basically almost every car made from 1991 to present day) could adapt to while still maintaining a useful experience and a upholding the Cars.com brand voice. This effort was responsible for a large increase in traffic flow from vehicle research to dealer inventory.
Proposed Mobile Interaction
The Make Model Year & Trim page is a whole new addition to the vehicle research experience on cars.com. The goal of the page is to provide the user with meaningful content and all possible vehicle options at the trim level. This large amount of content would be accessible across all devices.
